ABLE Human Motion teammate Antonio Rodríguez Fernández completed his Ph.D. titled

ABLE Human Motion teammate Antonio Rodríguez Fernández completed his Ph.D. titled: “Clinical evaluation towards the development of a wearable lower limb exoskeleton for people with spinal cord injury: from gait biomechanics to motor learning”.

This thesis began in 2019 at the BIOMEC Lab of the Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering, in parallel to the dream of ABLE Human Motion to enable mobility for all. Four years later, the dream becomes reality with a wearable lower limb exoskeleton for the gait rehabilitation of people with SCI. This thesis aims to present some of the knowledge and learning that has led to the development of the ABLE Exoskeleton and give valuable insights to consider for the growth of robotic gait therapy.

Congratulations to Antonio and their supervisors, Josep Mª Font Llagunes and Joan Lobo Prat, for this achievement.

En esta tesis se presentan algunos de los conocimientos y aprendizajes que han llevado al desarrollo del Exoesqueleto ABLE, además de aportar valiosas ideas a tener en cuenta para el crecimiento de la terapia robótica de la marcha.

Antonio will continue collaborating with ABLE Human Motion through the ABLE Daily Exo project: The next generation of smart robotic exoskeletons to assist people with disabilities in everyday life activities, in which we collaborate with the UPC.
We wish you good luck and further victories, Dr. Rodríguez Fernández!
