EIT Health is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union receives support from the European Union\u00b4s Horizon 2020 Research and innovation programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ablehumanmotion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Kick-off-EIT-Health-Innovation-Project-1-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32178\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will be developed by a multidisciplinary consortium of 8 partners which combine experience in business, engineering, clinical practice, design, and education: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"GENESIS Biomed (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/genesis-biomed.com\" target=\"_blank\">GENESIS Biomed<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"CREB UPC (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/creb.upc.edu\/ca\" target=\"_blank\">CREB UPC<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.upc.edu\/ca\" target=\"_blank\">Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Eurecat (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\" target=\"_blank\">Eurecat<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Institut Guttmann (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmann.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Institut Guttmann<\/a>,<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"\n Heidelberg University Hosptial (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heidelberg-university-hospital.com\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br> Heidelberg University Hosptial<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Universitat de Barcelona (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/web\/ub\/ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Universitat de Barcelona<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Madopa (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.madopa.fr\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Madopa<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ablehumanmotion.com\/\">ABLE Human Motion<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> The kick-off meeting was held at Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering (CREB) of Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya (UPC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ablehumanmotion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Kick-off-EIT-Health-Innovation-Project-4-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32179\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the EIT Health Innovation project, we will validate and certify our ABLE exoskeleton for paraplegia. The clinical validation of the device will be performed in two renowned centres for spinal cord injury rehabilitation: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Institut Guttmann (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmann.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Institut Guttmann<\/a> (Barcelona) and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Heidelberg University Hosptial (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heidelberg-university-hospital.com\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heidelberg University Hosptial<\/a> (Germany). The commercialization phase is expected to begin in 2022, after obtaining the CE certification as a<br> medical device in late 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ablehumanmotion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Kick-off-EIT-Health-Innovation-Project-2-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32180\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, we will work on the development and validation of a homecare version of our exoskeleton, which will enable patients to continue rehabilitation at home and will promote their empowerment in the community through an autonomous ambulation.<br> ABLE will set a continuum care from clinics to patients\u2019 home.
