18 Dec ABLE Human Motion participates in Toyota Startup Accelerator Program
ABLE Human Motion was one of the 5 startups selected to participate in the Toyota Accelerator Program after our participation at the first edition of Toyota Startup Awards.
The Accelerator Program began in July 2020, with a 2-week online bootcamp, where the ABLE team participated in different training sessions. The bootcamp gave useful insights on key areas such as marketing, investment, sales, innovation, and internationalization. We also had access to mentoring sessions with selected mentors based on each company’s needs.
During the mentoring sessions, we had the opportunity to work on the assessment of our hiring needs, obtain tips for the development of clinical trials and the implementation of our quality management system. Also, we set our strategy and milestones for 2021, prepared the company for raising a Series A in the near future, and gained a better understanding of reimbursement policies.
The program culminated with a Demo Day. Where we had the opportunity to pitch in front of 90 guests, including Toyota Motor Europe key executives, private investors and ISDI representatives.
We also had the opportunity to listen an inspirational speech by Sir Philip Craven, former President of the International Paralympic Committee and Member of the Board of Directors of Toyota Motor Corporation.

“Mobility for All means ‘for everybody’, without marginalising a single person. Toyota wants to provide inclusive mobility solutions for every member of our society. We, humans, are sociable – we want to go out. I personally empathise with these startups that are fighting every day to make this happen. Whilst sticking to their principles and with a desire to improve people’s lives. At Toyota, we can learn so much from them if we want to give all people the freedom of movement. I want to encourage these startups to never give up, keep firing and go out to change the world.” – Sir Philip Craven, former President of the International Paralympic Committee and Member of the Board of Directors, Toyota Motor Corporation

The Toyota Startup Accelerator, and especially the guidance from the mentors and Toyota guides, has been key to achieving critical company milestones during the last months. In which we have assessed the main company needs, set the roadmap for the coming years and built a compelling commercial plan. Alongside Toyota we want to promote social inclusion through increased mobility. – Alfons Carnicero, CEO at ABLE Human Motion.
Although the acceleration program has finished, we continue working in close collaboration with Toyota. We are testing our ABLE Exoskeleton with Toyota sponsored Paralympic athletes. Who give us valuable feedback to help us improve our technology and bring to the market a product that really meets their needs. Also, we are exploring potential collaboration opportunities with Paris 2024 paralympic games and the International Paralympic Committee.
