Healthcare entrepreneur from Barcelona passionate about how new technologies can break the barriers to mobility and independence that people with disability face every day. Alfons holds a Master’s in Industrial Engineering (Biomedical major) from UPC and various entrepreneurship courses at Cambridge Judge, EADA and ISDI Business Schools. His professional career started at Implantcast (joint implants manufacturer) and Institut Guttmann (neurorehabilitation hospital), and then in 2018, he co-founded ABLE Human Motion, a leading medical exoskeleton company on a mission to enable mobility for everyone. Alfons has been awarded Innovator Under 35 Europe by MIT Technology Review and “Joven Relevante” by Círculo Ecuestre, and serves on the Steering Committee of the International Industry Society for Advanced Rehabilitation Technology (IISART).
Robotics and Automation Engineering from the UPC with 9 years of experience in robotic product development. He began his career working in electronics and firmware in the automotive sector (Seat) and manufacturing using 3D printing (BCN3D Technologies). Later, he joined INGENIA, where he worked on motion control solutions for specific robotic application requirements. In 2018, he co-founded ABLE Human Motion, where he holds the position of Technical Director, coordinating the company’s Hardware and Software teams. These experiences have allowed him to obtain in-depth knowledge about Medical Devices Product Development, Mechatronics, Systems Integration, Communication Protocols, Electronics, Control Strategies and Agile Methodology. He is the inventor of 4 patents.
